Who We Are

We are animal lovers at heart, who are especially passionate about dogs. We want to do more than just sell stuff to pet parents, but instead help owners really understand what their pets might need to be happy and healthy.

Our staff team has over 50 years combined dog ownership and we know a thing or two about loving on our pups and Leadville is a great place to do it!  Our staff dogs are all true mountain mutts who enjoy the many benefits of a Mountain Dog life.

MEET THE OWNERS

Our names are Adam and Elizabeth Dinschel and our Mountain Dog is Lucy. We have an 18 year old daughter, Tori, who will be helping out, too. Tori is planning on becoming a vet tech and is very excited to play with each and every mountain dog! Adam will be running the day-to-day operations, so please stop in and say “hi.” Elizabeth is the Executive Director of a local museum, so she will be around less often, but cannot pass up an opportunity to play with dogs. Elizabeth volunteered at a no kill humane society in Florida for ten years walking dogs and training them to have basic manners. We have always been a dog and cat household and understand that pet parents want to ensure their pets are loved and looked after.

Our goal is to make sure that every dog that enters our facility is treated like family with love, compassion, and patience.

OUR MOUNTAIN DOGS

LUCY

You will meet Adam and Elizabeth’s very own Mountain Dog, Lucy - a giant schnoodle, when you visit our facility. She is an energetic couch-potato who loves hiking while she is out and about, but at home would most likely be found sprawled out. Lucy’s favorite things to do are playing with her friends at our Mountain Dog Romp & Chomps or eating fresh Colorado snow! Her favorite food is raw salmon and pumpkin, and she highly recommends you spoil your four-legged family member with our raw food selection. She was born on a farm in Iowa and she rescued Elizabeth and Adam when she was 4 months old.

Betty White

Adam & Elizabeth’s newest addition is Betty White. She is a Great Pyrenees and was found on Highway 24 in Leadville at just 8 weeks old. She was a foster fail from the Lake County/Leadville Animal Shelter. She has grown up at Mountain Dogs and takes her job of playing with all of the dogs and working at events very seriously. She loves being outside and especially playing in the snow. She is a Mountain Dog through and through. Betty loves Freshpet, Beef Roasters, and FirstMate Large Breed Dog and Puppy.

MOLLY (Retired)

Molly has been at Mountain Dogs longer than any of us! Leadville’s favorite and award-winning shop cat, Molly, wants to tell you that you can find all of your cat food and cat treat needs in, what we lovingly call, “Molly’s Corner.” She goes bonkers for Greenie Treats and wet food and recommends that you spoil your beloved feline friend with some of Polka Dot Fish Skins! If you feel something soft and cuddly brushing up against your legs or meowing loudly right in your face, you have probably met our Mountain Cat Molly.
